In 2016, Beyoncé turned heads at the Met Gala in a custom-made Givenchy gown. Adhering to the old adage ‘go big or go home’, the Destiny’s Child star stunned in the dramatic gown, which was crafted fro organic organic latex material, and featured head-to-toe embroidered pearls. Each pearl was reportedly worth a whopping $8,000 each, bringing the entire cost of the gown to an eye-watering $300,000.


Jennifer Lopez – $5 million

She may still be ‘Jenny from the block’, but Jennifer Lopez wore an outfit fit for a queen in 2011 as she attended the 2011 Golden Globes. Turning heads, the pop star wore an ethereal Zuhair Murad gown with a diamond cuff encrusted with 600 diamonds. She added even more sparkle to her look with a diamond barrette in her hair and a pair of diamond earrings. The entire look clocked up to a staggering $5 million.


Kate Winslet - $100,000

Known for her impossibly elegant taste, Kate Winslet oozed Hollywood glamour as she stepped onto the Oscars red carpet in 2007. The Titanic star wore a mint green Valentino gown that had been adorably chosen by her young daughter Mia. Clearly a child of expensive taste, Mia’s pick also happened to be worth around $100,000.


Nicole Kidman - $2million

Australia’s golden girl Nicole Kidman lived up to her namesake in 1997 when she attended the Oscars in a golden, chinoiserie-embroidered Dior gown designed by John Galliano. Nicole was also reportedly paid a whopping $2million just to wear the dress. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!



Rihanna - $3.97million

In 2015, Rihanna made Met Gala history by wearing an extravagant, canary-yellow gown by Guo Pei, worth around $3.97 million. The dress took approximately 50,000 hours to make over two years, and featured a vast, fur-trimmed train with heavy embroidery and a matching headpiece. It also sparked a social media frenzy after fans began comparing the gown to a large omelette. Despite the mixed reviews, Chinese couturier Guo Pei has since enjoyed global fame thanks to her unique design aesthetic.
